Keith Smith

Hi, my name is Keith Smith. I have worked as a Project and Programme Manager for nearly 30 years across a range of industries (Military, Pre-Press, Government and Public Bodies and the Private
Sector) and I have had a lot of experience in the Operational and Service aspects of delivery. Whilst I work hard I also like to have fun and interact with people.

I served in the Army (REME) for over 20 years where I performed a number of roles including electronics engineer, teacher and maintenance advisor to Marconi and EASAMS on equipment they
were developing for the military. My experience goes across small consultancy businesses through to large corporations, both UK and
US. I have integrated small companies into larger organisations and have specialised in business processes and production of appropriate documentation.

My passion is sport and I keep very fit with regular exercise including gym sessions, cycling and racket sports. I am a season ticket holder at Surrey and go to watch as many games as possible when
the weather allows.

My Experience

2016 - 2022 Leidos
Senior Programme Manager on key Leidos programmes including the
England, Wales and Northern Ireland Census for 2021.

2005 - 2016 Lockheed Martin
Senior Programme Manager working on key Lockheed Martin UK programmes
Various high level projects with enhanced developed vetting.

2001 - 2005 Small Business Consultancies delivering high-level
programme and project management.

Project management is the application of processes, methods, skills, knowledge and experience to achieve specific project objectives according to the project acceptance criteria within agreed parameters. Project management has final deliverables constrained to a finite timescale and budget. Because of this a project professional needs a wide range of skills; often technical skills, and certainly people management skills and good business awareness.

Whilst Project Management is the practice of initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing the work of a team to achieve specific goals and meet specific success criteria at the specified time projects don’t always go to plan. The primary challenge of project management is to achieve all the project goals within any constraints; the usual constraints are scope, time, quality and budget.

I have nearly 30 years’ experience as a Project and Programme Manager across a range of industries (Defence, Public Sector and Private) working on projects and programmes in the range of £1M to£200M lasting between 6 months to 5 years. I am practiced in ITIL and Prince Methodologies with Supplier Management familiarity, a strong Team Manager and Leader with the flexibility to workanywhere in the UK. My key strengths are attention to detail, being organised, completer / finisher and delivering results.
